2024 Luray Sharpe Reid Scholarship Recipients
Tales from the Altamaha began with Luray Reid Sharpe, who, in 2003, gifted her scrapbooks of newspaper clippings her father, T. Ross Sharpe, wrote for the Lyons Progress to Lyons Better Hometown (nowLyons Main Street). These stories are intended to be brought to the stage and help preserve our history.
The scholarship, created in her honor, is worth $1000 and helps high school students who have been active in Tales for four years pay for higher education. In addition to participation, we look for cooperation, discipline, respect, trustworthiness, dependability, good character, truthfulness, and integrity.
This year, we proudly present:
Ben Bennett will graduate from David Emanuel Academy and plans to attend East Georgia College and then Mercer to pursue a law degree.
Ansleigh Randolph is graduating from Montgomery County High School.
Grace Holt from Toombs County High School. She plans to pursue an education degree at Georgia Southern.
It has been an honor working with these young folks. We hope they return to the stage as they move on to the next chapter of their journey.
