Soap Box Derby goes to the Capitol



The Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby has won the first of two votes needed to become the State of Georgia's Official Soap Box Derby. On Monday, February 27, 2023, Representative Leesa Hagan presented HB 237 to the Georgia House of Representatives. After speaking on our behalf and answering questions from the other representatives the vote was cast, YES!

Lyons sent an envoy to the capitol including Mayor Willis NeSmith, City Manager Jason Hall, Lyons Main Street Director Daphne Walker, SEGSBD Chairman Jonathan Gordy, and wife Ashley, 2021 Local Champion and Top 18 in the World, Noah Gordy, SEGSBD Scholarship Pageant Director Leslie Harrell, 2022 Local Champion and Top 18 in the World and Miss Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby Emma Waters, and Teen Miss Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby.
