Celebrating Georgia's Official Soap Box Derby
On July 10th, we gathered at Derby Hill at Partin Park to commemorate a significant milestone in our journey—from Victory Drive to Partin Park and now as the proud hosts of Georgia's Official Soap Box Derby.
This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and support of many individuals and organizations who have championed our cause. I want to express our most profound appreciation to Representative Leesa Hagan, whose unwavering commitment and perseverance saw our dream of this designation become a reality. Representative Hagan took it upon herself to champion our cause as her first bill in Congress, navigating challenges and delays with unwavering determination. Her efforts culminated in Governor Kemp's signing of the bill on May 7th, a momentous occasion for all of us.
Additionally, we were honored to have Mayor Willis NeSmith, our City Manager Jason Hall, and Clint Williams, the chairman of the Lyons Main Street Board. They were thanked for their ongoing support and for being a guiding force in Lyons.
Lastly, Jonathan Gordy was recognized, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes ensure that each year's derby surpasses the last in excitement and success. Jonathan's dedication is commendable, and we are fortunate to have him leading the way.
Thanks were given to everyone who attended and all who supported us along the way, their belief in our vision and contributions have made this journey of 32 years possible. We look forward to celebrating today's achievements and many more successful years ahead.
